Long Pond Heritage Classic, Windsor, NS

Taken at the sixth annual Long Pond Heritage Classic held at Long Pond in Windsor Nova Scotia on January 21, 2017. Spirited games of pond hockey, or “shinny” were played on Long Pond–thought to be the place where hurley-on-ice was first played. This early sport evolved into the game of ice hockey, as we know it today. Special guests included former NHL stars Ray Bourque, Stephane Richer, and Joe DiPenta. It was fundraising event with proceeds going to the Windsor Hockey Heritage Society, and The Birthplace of Hockey.
