School Portrait, 1976

high school portrait

Hants West Rural High School, Newport, NS

This was my Grade 12 school portrait at Hants West Rural High School, 1976. If you listen carefully, you can hear the sounds of Neil Young, April Wine, and Bachman Turner Overdrive in the background. There are bales of hay being thrown onto a wagon, pucks being shot endlessly against the side of a barn, shouts from a Ford Pinto driving around Windsor..”excuse me, where is Windsor?”, balls being hit at the Newport Station diamond, tom toms being battered on a set of Ludwig drums.
Did I ever have that much hair? Was I ever so naive and carefree?
Today was my 40th high school reunion. It was good to see everyone and talk about the old days.
